A scone is a baked good, usually made of either wheat or oatmeal with baking powder as a leavening agent, and baked on sheet pans. A scone is often slightly sweetened and occasionally glazed with egg wash.The scone is a basic component of the cream tea. It differs from teacakes and other types of sweets that are made with yeast.
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons butter
½ teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk
How to prepare the Scones:
Mix together the dry ingredients. Then add cold butter cut into small pieces. Cut the butter into the flower until it looks like fine breadcrumbs.
Add the milk and mix into a loose dough. Then turn dough onto a floured board and knead for 30 seconds until you have a smooth dough. Cut the dough into 6 or 8 small squares and brush the tops with a little milk then sprinkle with sugar. Bake in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes at 450 degrees.
