Recipe Torrijas de vino French Toast with Wine
INGREDIENTS Recipe Torrijas de vino
1 Loaf of Bread
5 eggs
1 bottle of wine of your choice (in this case a white, semi-sweet)
5 tablespoons of honey
A few sticks of cinnamon
5 cloves
One orange
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt
½L of muscatel wine
¼L of Sugar Syrup
PREPARATION Recipe Torrijas de vino
In a wide container mix wine with the honey, orange and the spices. Let this marinate overnight if possible.
Slice the bread into 2 cm slices.
Beat the eggs with a pinch of salt.
Soak the bread in the wine mixture.
Paint the slices with the beaten egg.
Fry the slices of bread in the olive oil over medium heat, aprox. half a minute per side.
When done frying remove the to a rack and allow them to drain.
Mix the muscatel wine with the syrup.
Soak the Torrijas in this mixture and leave them in the fridge flipping them occasionally. Torrijas are best when eaten the following day.
